Donna Marrazzo has
been teaching the craft of acting since 1983. Early in her career she
was fortunate to be affiliated with two of our country’s most renowned
regional theatres, the Studio Arena Theatre, and the Walnut Street
Theatre, where she was a faculty member for over 10 years. In addition
to her work at Donna Marrazzo Studio, she currently teaches film acting
at Mike Lemon Casting, and is a faculty member at Adelphi University’s
Theatre Department. Donna also enjoys coaching her many private clients.
After receiving her
B.F.A. in drama from Adelphi University, Donna continued her training,
studying with Salem Ludwig, George DiCenzo, and most importantly Fred
Kareman, where she had intensive training in the Meisner Technique. She
has also had the pleasure of studying with two of the leading voice
teachers of our time, Kristin Linklater and Cecily Berry.
Donna founded Donna
Marrazzo Studio in 2001. She wanted a place where she could share her
passion for the craft of acting with others who were serious about
their training. Creating a supportive and creative environment for all of
her students is a main priority for Donna.
Donna started her
acting career working in regional theatre in many of the classics, such
as Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Night’s Dream and
Ibsen’s Miss Julie. Her work also brought her to the NY
stages in such original works as La Mama's Riddley Walker and
Westbeth Theatre's Arlecchino’s Unlucky Heart. As Donna's
teaching grew, she shifted her focus from theatre to film, television
and commercials. Her film credits include Killing Emmett Young
with Gabrielle Byrne and Tim Roth, The Father, The Son,
winner of the Portland Film Festival’s Audience Choice Award. Donna’s
television work consists of Law & Order, One Life to
Live, Homicide, Life on the Street, and Road Show
with Celeste Holm.
Students of Donna’s
have gone on to work in independent and feature films, television,
theatre, and commercials throughout the country.
